The hard truth about web sites

Would you trust the operation of your business to someone armed only with a software program that is touted to do it all; no knowledge or experience necessary?

It’s surprising how many companies do just that.

We’ll be blunt. When it comes to owning a web site, many companies don’t have a clue—they’re not serious about using the web as a major sales and marketing tool. “Our competitors have one, so we better,” is often the prevailing business wisdom.

Invariably, web sites for these companies become nothing more than a billboard or another advertisement in the phone book.

Serious help for serious clients

We began building web sites when it was still common to see Windows 3.1 running on a 386 clone; when Netscape Navigator was the unrivaled king of web browsers. We’ve been in the trenches through the browser wars, the dot-com rise and bust, the emergence of Google, and much more.

A web site can be a powerful business asset or it can be a cost with little return. We know the difference.

Are you the right client for us?

Our biggest thrill comes not from the money we might make, but from the satisfaction of seeing a client benefit from our contributions.

Promit is selective about accepting new clients. In fact, we’re downright picky.

Among other things, prospects must either:

  1. Possess an accurate understanding of how a web site can be used in their business, know what results are desired, and are ready to make it happen. You fall into this category if you’ve given serious thought to the subject and have a plan ready to review.
    OR
  2. Possess very little understanding, but want to explore the possibilities. Cost is not an initial consideration for this category; rather a willingness to discuss current and future business ambitions and how the web can contribute to the success of those goals.
Why we might not be right for you

Promit is qualified to assist in just about any type of web site project or web marketing plan.

However, we are probably not the right fit for you if:

  • your business involves activity that might be ethically or morally frowned upon, such as pornography
  • you value cool graphics and “eye candy” above results-oriented web development (and you’re not in the graphics business)
  • you think the saying “Rome was not built in a day” has no relevance to your web site or business
  • you would sacrifice quality for cost
